I really enjoying reading your blog and found a lot of super helpful information! I really appreciate it!
Here the mean vet-related experience hours of 3025 did shock me. I am a pre-vet student in the transition from graduate school to vet school, and I am working hard on getting some clinical experience although I have over a thousand hours of various animal and research experience. However after reading the FAQs of a lot of vet school websites I got the feeling that animal experiences are not as valued as clinical experience. Is that the case? Is there a minimum requirement of clinical experience hours to get into vet school? Thanks!

Thanks, I'm glad my blog can help people like you! Research experience is great, even if it in the human medicine field. Clinical experience is very important as it gives you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. It is the key in helping you decide which door to open, i.e. being a vet or something else.

You are true in saying that animal experiences are not as valued as clinical ones. I think the minimum clinical experience required when I applied was 100 hours, however most people applying will have more. I would check the VMACS website to be sure, because applications can change yearly.

The best of luck!
